Pikeville Falls To Harrison County In State Baseball Tournament

The Pikeville Panthers scored first but couldn’t get their lone run to stand as they fell to Harrison County, 2-1, on the 2023 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Baseball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare on Friday at Counter Clocks Field in Lexington.

The Panthers scored first in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Noah Jarrell singled to left field, bringing home Sam Wright for a 1-0 advantage.

Harrison County tied the score up on an error in the top of the 4th inning to make it a 1-1 game. Harrison County then took the lead in the top of the 5th inning on a passed ball to take a 2-1 lead.

Pikeville would have a chance in the bottom of the 7th. The Panthers got singles from Jake Lowe and Bradyn Hall in the inning but could not get the tying run home.

Isaac Duty was wonderful in defeat for Panthers, allowing no earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 batters in 6-2/3 innings pitched to get the loss.

Pikeville finishes its season with a record of 24-12.
