Man Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To “Gut” Logan Little League Umpire

A Whitman man was arrested after threatening a Logan Little League umpire at a baseball game on Monday.

62-year-old Franklin Darby allegedly heckled umpire Dustin Harvey during a game. According to the Logan Magistrate Court, Harvey removed his umpire equipment and left the field. Darby then allegedly continued to scream and curse at Harvey. The complaint also stated that Darby produced a knife and allegedly said, “I’ll gut you right here.” According to the complaint, Darby left the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Darby is charged with brandishing a deadly weapon and assaulting an athletic official. Both crimes are misdemeanors. Bond was set at $5,000 on the condition that Darby does not enter Logan Board of Education Property or attend Little League games.
