Pikeville Beats Johnson Central In Extra Innings To Win 15th Region Crown

Jackson Hall scored on a Bradyn Hall bunt in the top of the 8th inning to boost the Pikeville Panthers an 8-7 win in the 15th Region Championship over the Johnson Central Golden Eagles on Wednesday in Prestonsburg.

For the Panthers, Wade Hensley went 2-of-4 with a stolen base, a double, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Dylan Thompson was 2-of-2 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Bradyn Hall had a single with the winning RBI. Sam Wright had a single with a run scored. Jeb Wilkerson had a single, 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Bash Ryan had a single and 1 RBI. Jackson Hall had a single, 2 RBI and the winning run scored.

Johnson Central was led by Cole Ward, who went 3-of-4 with a home run, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Logan Morrow batted 2-of-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Cameron Kelsey, Brock Butcher, Gavin Crum and Brayden Shepherd all had singles in the loss.

Wright got the win for Pikeville after allowing 2 runs on no hits and striking out 1 batter in 1-2/3 innings. Butcher was given the loss for the Golden Eagles.

The Panthers next play in the 2023 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Baseball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare in Lexington on Friday, June 2 against the Region 10 champion.
