Two Dorton athletes qualified for the State Middle School championships at the Pike County championships at East Ridge.
Macee Tackett placed 2nd in the discus throw and sits 3rd all-time at Dorton with a distance of 68-06. She also placed 3rd in the shot put and recorded the 7th longest distance all-time for Dorton at 29-10.
Talon Hopkins was first in the 100m dash, breaking Brett Sturgill’s old Dorton record at 11.77. He was also first in the long jump with a distance of 16-06.50. Hopkins was also 2nd in the 200m dash and 2nd fastest in school history with a time of 25.41.
