The Pike County Central Hawks needed 8 innings defeated the Belfry Pirates, 5-4, on Wednesday in 60th District Championship on Wednesday.
Peyton Compton led the Hawks by batting 2-of-3 with 2 stolen bases, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Cameron Shearer was 1-of-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Kaden Crum, Isaac Blankenship, Patrick Mandrell and Hunter Adkins all had singles.
For Belfry, Steven Banks had a solo homer. Devin Jude had a double. Jonah Adkins, Chase Varney and David Hagy each had singles.
Blake Hager got the win on the mound after allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 10 batters over 7-1/3 innings. Varney got the loss for Belfry.
Both teams will participate in the 15th Region Tournament.
