Floyd Central Wins Both Boys & Girls Class 2A Region 7 Track & Field Championship

The Floyd CentralJaguars won both the Boys and Girls Class 2A Region 7 Track & Field Championship in Salyersville.

The Jaguars boys team.scored 155 team points to defeat Letcher County Central (126) and Perry County Central (78). The indiviuals finishing in the first two spots advance to the state track championship.

For the boys, in the shot put, Braden Harvel of Floyd Central won with a mark of 41-1.25. Jeremiah Stephens of Estill County was second at 40-5.25. Draven Salyer from Floyd Central won the discus throw with a distance of 124-6. Marcus Robinson was second for Perry County Central with a mark of 123-2. In the long jump, Floyd Central’s Braden Moore won with a jump of 21-0. Perry County Central’s Ethan Combs was second with a mark of 19-8.25. Jaguars swept the triple jump with Brody Buck won at 38-4. Marvin McDonald was second at 37-9.50. Floyd Central’s Moore and McDonald placed first and second in the high jump. Moore won with a height of 5-8 while McDonald cleared 5-4 for his best jump. Magoffin County’s Alex Hibbens won the pole vault at 12-6. His teammate Lucas Wireman was second at 7-6.

The Letcher County Central team of Jackson Bolling, Andrue Bolling, Nathan Kiser and Gavin Ramsey won the 4-800m relay at 9:23.33. The Floyd Central squad of Ronnie Samons, Jacob Johnson, Aaron Case and Austin Clark finished second a time of 9:42.29. Buck won the 110m hurdles with a time of 17:29 and Keaston Branham was second for Letcher County Central at 18.32. Letcher County Central’s Peyton Combs won the 100m dash at 11.50. Perry County Central’s Ethan Central was second at 11.51. Letcher County Central (Branham, Jackson Bolling, Jake Caudill and Combs) won the 4×200 m relay at 1:35.40. Floyd Central (Blake Adams, Dawson Moore, Braden Moore and Buck) was second at 1:36.90. Perry County Central’s Kyler Witt won the 1600m run at 5:12.87. Letcher County Central’s Nathan Kiser was second at 5:20.29. Letcher County Central (Kasey Hall, Caudill, Garret Howard and Combs) won the 4x100m relay at 46.46. Floyd Central (Adams, Dawson Moore, Braden Moore and McDonald) finished second at 47.10. Perry County Central’s Kyler Witt won the 400m dash at 53.11. Jacson Bolly was second for Letcher County Central at 55.03. Letcher County Central’s Branham won the 300m hurdles at 44.63. Floyd Central’s Buck was second at 45.89. Estill County’s Levi McFarland was first in the 800m at 2:10.21. Pike County Central’s Connor Ramey was second at 2:11.92. Letcher County Central’s Combs was first in the 200m at 23.74. Belfry’s Cayden Varney was 2nd at 24.33. Floyd Central’s Samons was first in the 3200 run at 11:25.31. Letcher County Central’s Nathan Kiser was second at 11:55.63. Letcher County Central (Gavin Ramsey, Branham, Caudill and Howard) won the 4x400m relay at 3:43.05. Perry County Central (Chance Hurley, Ian Montgomery, Lance Hylton and Witt) was second at 3:54.14.

The Jaguars also won the girls event with a score of 144. Estill County was second at 107. Perry County Central was third at 101. The top two in each event qualified for the state track championships.

In the shot put, Estill County’s Haley Angel won with a distance of 32-9. Magoffin County’s Abby Bradley was second at 29-6.50. Pike County Central’s Jaycie Stanley won the discus throw at 95-10. Angel was second for Estill County at 87-4. Perry County Central’s Kyli Jett won the long jump at 14-8.50. Jerrilynn Hatfield was second at 13-11.50. Perry County Central’s Jett also won the triple jump at 32-4. Letcher County Central’s Kelsey Goins was second at 29-11. Estill Count’s Sarah Baker won the high jump at 4-8. Floyd Central’s Annalecia Bentley was second at 4-4. Magoffin County’s Allison Cantrell won the pole vault at 8-6.

Letcher County (Heather Crawford, Anna Hatton, Kaylin Whitt and Goins) won the 4x800m relay at 11:21.79. Floyd Central (Kaylee Hall, MaHayla Garcia, Hailey Little and Katie Stumbo) was second at 11:22.36. Estill County’s Baker was first in the 100m hurdles at 18.80. Floyd Central’s Karli Rose was second at 19.53. Perry County Central’s Brooklyn Smith won the 100m dash at 13.46. Kaylee Hall was second for Floyd Central at 13.59. Perry County Central (Kylee Delph, Lexie Hurt, Paige Asher and Brooklyn Sandlin) won the 4x200m relay at 1:52.86. Floyd Central (Rose, Bentley, Stone Akers and Hatfield) was second at 1:56.44. Floyd Central’s Garcia won the 1600m run at 6:13.27. Letcher County Central’s Hatton was second with a time of 6:14.95. Perry County Central (Delph, Hurt, Laiken Harris and Sandlin) won first in the 4x100m relay at 53.52. Estil County (Angel, Baker, Kadara Skinner and Maci Moore) was second at 53.94. Estil County’s Muncie won the 400m dash at 1:02.39. Floyd Central’s Hatfield was second at 1:03.28. Floyd Central’s Rose and Akers took the top to spots in the 300m hurdles. Rose was first at 52.60. Akers was second at 53.36. Letcher County Central’s Whitt was first in the 800m run at 2:36.11. Floyd Central’s Hall was second at 2:36.89. Perry County Central’s Sandlin won the 200m dash at 27.77. Estil County’s Muncie was second with a time of 28.41. Floyd Central’s Garcia won the 3200 run at 14:32.74. Letcher County Central’s Crawford was second with a mark of 15:24.12. In the girls, 4x400m relay Letcher County Central (Goins, Hatton, Story Scheeler and Whitt) won with a time of 4:42.28. Etsill County (Kadara Skinner, Jenna Jackson, Kaitlyn Somerville and Madison Rose) was second at 4:45.03.
