The Tug Valley Panthers scored early and never looked back as they defeated the Van Bulldogs, 12-2, on Monday in the opening round of the sectional tournament in Naugatuck.
For the Panthers, Zachary Hall was 4-of-4 with a stolen base, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Dakota Ooten was 2-of-4 with 2 stolen bases, a triple, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Julian Vance was 2-of-3 with 2 doubles, 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Austin Smith had a double, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Conner Lackey finished with a double and 2 runs scored. Brayden Dotson had a single and 3 RBI. Chandler Copley added a single.
Ooten got the win on the mound, allowing 1 earned run on 1 hit while recording 5 strikeouts over 3 innings pitched.
Tug Valley will play at top-seeded Buffalo on Tuesday.
