Pioneers Shut Down Miners In Sectional Tournament

The 4th seed Wayne Pioneers kicked off Sectional Tournament play with a 7-0 win over the 5th seed Mingo Central Miners on Monday out Wayne.

For Wayne, Brady Dyer was 2-of-2 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Brayden Jackson was 2-of-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Logan Prater was 2-of-3 with 3 stolen bases and 1 run scored. Austin Porter was 1-of-2 with a stolen base and 2 runs scored.

For the Miners, Aaron Blankenship was 1-of-3 with a double. Aiden Dove was 1-of-2.

Prater got the win on the mound after allowing only 1 hit while striking out 8 batters over 5 innings pitched. KJ Smith got the loss for the Miners.

Wayne will play at top seed Chapmanville on Tuesday. Mingo Central play an elimination game at the loser of Scott vs Logan on Wednesday.
