The Scott Lady Skyhawks rallied past the Logan Lady Wildcats, 5-3, to win the sectional championship at home on Monday.
Scott started the scoring by plating 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Ivory Harper scored the first run on a Logan error for a 1-0 advantage. A couple of batters later, Alyssa Shultz doubled to left field, scoring Natalie Green and Dailan Adkins to make it a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Wildcats battled back and scored 3 runs of their own in the top of the 3rd inning. Ashlin Brumfield scored the first run in the inning on an infield single from Taylor Noe. Two batters later, Harlee Quick singled to bring home Noe and Kenna Ooten to tie the game at 3-3.
The Lady Skyhawks took the lead when Tatum Halley scored on an error to make it 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Scott scored the final run in the bottom of the 6th inning when Jakayla Gaiter doubled to center field to bring Kayleigh Ellis across home plate.
Halley got the win in the pitcher’s circle, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 7 batters. Quick was given the loss for Logan.
Scott now advances to the the regional round.
