Morgan Cooper fanned 17 batters as the top-seed Man Lady Billies knocked off the 4th-seed Tug Valley Lady Panthers, 4-0, on Wednesday in Man.
The Lady Billies scored all 4 of their runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to get the win.
M Carroll was 2-of-2 with a double, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. M Cooper was 1-of-3 with a double, 1 RBI and 1 run scored. P Lusk was 1-of-3 with a double and 1 RBI. K Blevins was 1-of-3 with a double.
Kinna Justice batted 2-of-3 for Tug Valley’s only two hits.
Cooper was sensational in the pitcher’s circle, only allowing 2 hits and 1 walk to go with her 17 strikeouts in the complete game shutout. Justice was given the loss after giving up 3 earned runs and only 5 hits while striking out 5 batters.
Tug Valley will now host Tolsia in the double elimination tournament on Thursday.
