The Tug Valley Panthers jumped on top in the 1st inning and never looked back as they defeated the Van Bulldogs, 12-2, on Friday in Naugatuck.
For the Panthers, Conner Lackey batted 2-of-3 with 3 RBI and 1 run scored. Julian Vance was 2-of-2 with a stolen base, 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Austin Smith had a double, 3 stolen bases, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Dakota Ooten had a triple, 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Zachary Hall had a single and 2 runs scored. Gage Whitt added a single and 2 RBI.
On the mound, Whitt allowed only 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 6 batters in 6 innings pitched to earn the win.
Tug Valley will next play on Saturday at Charleston Catholic.
