The Pike County Central Hawks scored 5 runs in the 1st inning on the way to an 11-5 win over the Betsy Layne Bobcats on Monday.
After the Bobcats scored 2 run in the top of the 1st inning, Pike County Central answered with 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Hawks stretched the lead to 7-2 after 4 innings. After a final Betsy Layne run, Pike County Central scored 4 runs in bottom of the 5th inning for the final margin.
Kaden Crum was 3-of-4 with a double 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Peyton Compton was 3-of-4 with a stolen base, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Cameron Shearer was 2-of-2 with a home run, 4 stolen bases, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Isaac Blankenship was 2-of-3 with 1 run scored. Blake Hager, Caleb Mouton and Patrick Mandrell all had hits in the win.
Hager got the win on the mound, allowing only 1 earned run on 2 hits while striking out 13 batters in 6 innings pitched.
The Hawks will next play at Ridgeview on Wednesday.
