Tigers Claw Wildcats, 9-3

The Chapmanville Tigers jumped on top in the 1st inning and never looked back as they defeated the Logan Wildcats, 9-3, on Wednesday.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard when Talan Thompson singled home Luke Knight. Later in the inning, Thompson scored on a fielder’s choice to make it 2-0. Logan cut the lead in half in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Ryan Roberts smacked a double to right field, scoring Aiden Slack. Champanville increased its lead to 4-1 in the top of the 3rd inning when Trey Butcher doubled to center field, scoring Knight and Brody Dalton.

The Tigers stretched the lead to 6-1 in the top of the 5th inning as Andrew Farley singled to center field, bringing home Butcher and Thompson. Joey Canterbury followed with a double to right field, scoring Farley. Canterbury later scored on an error to make the score 8-1.

Logan made it an 8-2 game in the bottom of the 5th inning when Konner Lowe drove in a run with a single. Chapmanville scored its final run when Knight scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Ivan Miller scored on a bases loaded walk.

Jacob Topping earned the win on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits and striking out 6 batters in 5-2/3 innings pitched. Dawson Maynard was given the loss for Logan.

Chapmanville will next host Riverside on Thursday. Logan will battle Man on Saturday.
