The Pike County Central Lady Hawks scored in the top of the 8th inning to earn a 5-4 win over Tates Creek in Lexington.
The Lady Hawks started scoring in the top of the 2nd inning when Abby Hess singled to left field, scoring Liv Sanders for a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same until the top of the 4th inning when Sanders crushed a home run to center field to make it a 2-0 score. Pike County Central extended its lead in the top of the 5th inning on a Jaycie Stanley triple that scored Taylee Wood. Stanley then scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-0 game.
Tates Creek then scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game up at 4-4.
Sanders then singled home Chloe Hannah in the top of the 8th for the winning run.
Hannah got the win in the circle, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits while striking out 12 batters.
Pike County Central will next play at Lawrence County on Tuesday.
