Tug Valley Rolls Tide, 7-5

The Tug Valley Panthers overcame an early deficit to down the Sherman Tide, 7-5, on Thursday in Seth.

Sherman jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Panthers roared back in the second inning. Chandler Copley singled home Austin Smith to make it, 3-1. Two batters later Ashton Smith smacked a double to score Copley, making it a 3-2 game. The Panthers tied the game up at 3-3 in the top of the third inning when Elijah Fluty single in Dakota Ooten.

The Tide plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning before, but that would be all they would get. Tug Valley closed the game on a Fluty infield single to score Ooten in the top of the fifth inning. Then, in the top of the sixth inning, Ooten tripled to center field to drive in Ashton Smith, Julian Vance and Conner Lackey to make it 7-5.

From there, Lackey shut the door on the mound as he was able to hold the Tide scoreless, allowing only one hit over the final three innings pitched to get the win in relief. Lackey also struck out one batter.

The Panthers will next play on Friday when they travel to Nitro on Friday.
