The Betsy Layne Middle School Bobcats are off to a blazing 6-1, including 3-1 in district play, start so far on the season. The Bobcats’ have beaten East Ridge, Shelby Valley, Pike County Central, South Floyd and Allen twice. The only loss was a 4-0 defeat to Floyd Central.
Sixth grader Eli Mitchell leads the team with a .706 batting average and has scored 10 runs. He also has a 1.90 ERA on the mound.
Caden Hall, another sixth grader has 13 strikeouts to lead the team. Seventh grade catcher Connor Johnson is the cleanup hitter with a .412 batting average. Eighth grade 1st baseman Reese Hamilton is batting .556.
Betsy Layne will next play on Wednesday when they battle Prestonsburg.
