Pikeville Gets Two Titles, East Ridge Performs Well In KTCCCA State Indoor Track & Field Championships

The Pikeville Panthers earned two state titles and the East Ridge Warriors had some solid performances at the KTCCCA State Indoor Track & Field Championships in Louisville over the weekend.

Pikeville’s Jacob Rogers took first place in the triple jump to claim a state championship. Rogers also placed sixth in the long jump. Eighth grader Ijah Ferguson captured first place in the shot put to win the middle school title in that event.

Carter Hurley found the medal podium twice for Pikeville, capturing third in both the 400m and 800m races. Ryan Keathley finished ninth in the 800m race. Drew Ferguson finished fifth in the shot put for the Panthers.

Pikeville Middle School’s athletes had some strong showings to go along with Ijah Ferguson’s title. Daylan Keathley placed 13th in the 800m race. Patton Trimble was 40th in the 800m race.

Kenzie Thornberry was 45th in the 400m, 44th in the 800m and 40th in the 1,500m races.

For East Ridge, Zack Mason just missed the podium by finishing 4th in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet-0. He also finished 15th in the long jump.

Keghan Thompson was 15th in the 1,500m race. Gavin Cantrell was 22nd in the 60m hurdles, 31st in the 400m race and 47th in the 60m dash.

Brayden Sayers placed 19th in the 1,500m race and 22nd in the 800m race.

It was a fantastic experience for all of the athletes involved.
