Isaac Setser’s halfcourt buzzer beater lifted the Scott Skyhawks to a 62-59 win over the Logan Wildcats in the sectional championship game in West Madison.
With the score tied at 59-59, the Wildcats (13-10) came down and missed a shot with time running down. Setser grabbed the rebound, took two dribbles down the court and let it fly from beyond the midcourt stripe. The shot found its mark, setting off a euphoric celebration on the Skyhawks’ home court, giving Scott (15-9) the huge win and sectional championship.
Reece Carden led the Skyhawks with 17 points. Jayden Sharps added 11 points apiece. Setser and Owen Adkins followed with 10 points each. Lincoln Byrnside and Kadin Clemons fired in 7 points apiece.
Both teams will now advance to the Regional Co-championship round on Wednesday. Scott will host Nitro (11-13). Logan will travel to Ripley (22-2).
