Lawrence County Beats Lady Tigers In Overtime

The Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs picked up a dramatic overtime win over the Paintsville Lady Tigers, 67-59, on Tuesday in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament at Appalachian Wireless Arena.

It was a back and forth affair with Paintsville 8th grader Kylie Kinner hitting a clutch basket late to send the game into overtime. However, Lawrence County was able to pull it out in the extra session.

The Lady Bulldogs (28-5) were led by Kensley Feltner’s 26 points and 8 rebounds. Kaison Ward and Sophie Adkins followed with 10 points each. Abby Nelson scored 9 points. Leandra Curnutte and Abby Maynard bot finished with 6 points apiece.

Kinner led Paintsville (19-12) with 34 points. Emilea Preece had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks. Camryn Helton scored 8 points.

Lawrence County will next battle Pike County Central in the semifinals of the 15th Region Tournament on Friday at Appalachian Wireless Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 8 pm.
