The Tolsia Lady Rebels got of to a hot start and held on to defeat the Tug Valley Lady Panthers, 49-39, on Thursday to claim the sectional title at Rebel Arena.
Tolsia (16-8) jumped out to an 11-1 lead after the first period of play. The Lady Rebels then held a 26-15 advantage at the half. The Lady Panthers (8-10) couldn’t cut into the lead in the third frame as Tolsia maintained a 38-26 lead heading into the final quarter and Tug Valley could never mount a come back.
Kerrigan Salmons led Tolsia with 15 points. Autumn Block followed with 13 points. Amber Stevens fired in 9 points. Emily Artrip scored 5 points. Julie Young netted 4 points. Jacey Crum added 2 points. Kilee Preece finished with 1 point.
Tug Valley was paced by Haven Deskins’ 15 points. Kenzie Browning followed with 12 points. Bailee Hall had 11 points. Haley Gillman chipped in 1 point.
Both teams now advance to their own regional co-championship game on Thursday.
Tolsia will host Huntington St. Joe’s (10-13) while Tug Valley will travel to Gilmer County (14-10).
