The Pike County Central Lady Hawks started 60th District Tournament play with a 58-51 win over the Phelps Lady Hornets on Monday at Belfry High School.
The Lady Hornets (16-14) started out well and took a 14-10 lead after the first quarter. Phelps extended its advantage to 26-19 at the half. Pike County Central (14-14) stormed back in the third period to take a 36-33 lead. The Lady Hawks were able to pull out the win in the final quarter.
Emalie Tackett led Pike County Central with 21 points. Lindsey Bowman followed with 16 points. Abby Hess had 8 points. Hannah May netted 7 points. Abby May chipped in 6 points.
Phelps was paced by Caleigh McCoy’s 18 points. Kylea Weddington followed with 17 points. Kaylyn Slone added 12 points. Amelia Casey and Faith Potter finished with 2 points each.
Pike County Central will play Belfry in the 60th Disctrict Championship on Wednesday at Belfry High School.
