Chapmanville Runs Past Miners, 78-51

The 3rd-ranked (Class AA) Chapmanville Tigers jumped out early and never looked back as they raced past the visiting Mingo Central Miners, 78-51, on Saturday in Chapmanville.

The Tigers (16-3) jumped out to a 23-16 lead after the first period and increased the advantage to 37-24 at the half. The Miners (9-13) played Chapmanville evenly in the third quarter, but the Tigers put the game away in the fourth period.

Sal Dean paced Chapmanville with 22 points. Zion Blevins followed with 19 points. Eli Smith added 10 points. Devon Workman fired in 9 points. Sam Miller recorded 7 points. Isaiah Smith netted 6 points. Tucker Adkins dropped in 3 points. Landon Tomblin finished with 2 points.

The Miners were led by Jake Cline with 15 points. Malaki Sheppard followed with 10 points. Matt Hatfield and Ethan Thomason added 8 points each. Kendan Trent scored 6 points. Chris Ross and Caden Porter chipped in 2 points apiece.

Chapmanville next plays at Sissonville on Tuesday. Mingo Central finishes its regular season and will wait for the sectional tournament.
