“Baby Face” Assassin Sets Career High Against TMU

Freshman guard Keian Worrix got 25 points and 9 assists to lead the University of Pikeville Bears to a 84-83 overtime win over 16th-ranked Thomas Moore on Saturday in Pikeville.

The Bears (17-11, 13-9 MSC) picked up their second victory in a row an their third win in four games. The loss dropped Thomas Moore to 21-7 overall and 15-7 in the Mid-South Conference.

UPike used a strong first half to take a 44-39 advantage into the locker room at the half, but Thomas Moore battled back in the second half to make it a 73-73 game at the end of regulation.

In the overtime period, Thomas Moore jumped out to a 75-73 advantage, but Worrix found freshman Bradley Bunch for a 3-point field goal to put the Bears up, 76-75. UPike would maintain its lead for the remainder of the game. Thomas Moore hit a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining to make it a 1-point game.

Korbin Spencer followed Worrix with 22 points. Jacob Brown had 15 points. Devin Collins added 8 points and 9 rebounds. Teddy Parham Jr recorded 7 points and 7 rebounds. Bunch fired in 6 points. Keynan Cutlip finished with 1 point.

Thomas Moore was paced by Jacob Jones’ 28 points. Wyatt Vieth had 24 pointsin the loss.

UPike will now play in the MSC Tournament, beginning on Tuesday.
