The 2nd-ranked (Class A) Tug Valley Panthers got 31 points from Joey Gollihue as they blew past the Man Hillbillies to pick up a 79-47 win at home in Naugatuck.
The Panthers (18-3) jumped out to a 14-10 lead after the opening quarter before really opening it up in the second quarter and carrying a 43-27 lead over the Hillbillies (2-17) in the locker room at the half. Tug Valley kept extending its lead in the third period, taking a 67-37 advantage into the final frame. The Panthers cruised from the victory from there.
Braydun Ferris followed Gollihue with 11 points. Parker Davis fired in 9 points. Kaden Hale had 8 points. Ashton Davis dropped in 6 points. Paul Preece and Buddy Marcum added 4 points each. Bryson Elia, Carson Newsome and Jace Hale finished with 2 points apiece.
Trace Doty led Man with 13 points. Kaleb Mullins followed with 12 points. Colton Miller added 11 points. Devon Sanders and Cameron Gerace added 4 points. Josh Spriggs had 2 points. Chris Isaacs chipped in 1 point.
Tug Valley will next play on Tuesday at home, hosting Westside at 7:30 pm.
Man will host Huntington St Joe on Monday at 7:30 pm.
