Miners Knock Off River View In 2OT Thriller, 66-64

The Mingo Central Miners got 23 points from Jake Cline as they downed the visiting River View Raiders, 66-64, in double-overtime on Miner Mountain.

Mingo Central (9-12) came out hot, jumping out to a 14-5 lead after the first period. River View (10-10) stormed back in the second quarter, outscoring the Miners, 24-13, to take a 29-27 lead into the locker room at the half. Mingo Central was able to retake the lead after three quarters and took a 43-39 lead into the fourth quarter. The Raiders were able to fight back and force overtime at 52-52. After each team scored six points in the first overtime, Mingo Central was able to outscore River View, 8-6, in the final overtime.

Matthew Hatfield followed Cline with 15 points. Ethan Thomason fired in 12 points. Malaki Sheppard dropped in 6 points. Chris Ross and Caden Porter finished with 5 points in the win.

The Miners will next play on Saturday when then travel to Chapmanville for a 7:30 pm clash.
