Wildcats Use Strong Second Half To Take Down Rival Chapmanville, 48-39

The 5th-ranked (Class AAA) Logan Wildcats outscored the 3rd-ranked (Class AA) Chapmanville Tigers, 33-23, in the second half to take a 48-39 win on Friday at Willie Akers Arena.

The Tigers (14-3) held a slim 8-6 lead after the first period. The Wildcats ( 11-9) cut the lead to 16-15 at the half. The two teams went back and forth in the third period, as Chapmanville held a 30-28 lead heading into the final quarter. Logan went on a 13-4 run over the final 2:15 to take the game.

Scotty Browning led the Wildcats with 16 points. Julius Clancy followed with 13 points. Jarron Glick added 6 points. McCormick Ilderton dropped in 5 points. Derek Browning and Ivan Miller finished with 3 points apiece. Aiden Slack chipped in 2 points.

Zion Blevins paced the Tigers with 19 points. Sal Dean tallied 15 points. Devon Workman and Benji Adkins scored 2 points each. Eli Smith added 1 point.

Logan will next travel to Shady Spring on Friday for a 7:30 pm clash. Chapmanville will play at Scott on Tuesday at 7 pm.
