Miners’ Defense Throttles Lincoln County In 32-22 Win

The Mingo Central Miners used a stifling defense to pick up a 32-22 win at Lincoln County on Saturday.

The Miners (8-12) held Lincoln County scoreless and held a 6-0 lead after the first period. Mingo Central increased its lead to 16-5 at the half. Lincoln County held a slim, 8-7, scoring advantage in the third quarter before both teams scored 9 points in the final quarter of action.

Malaki Sheppard led the way for Mingo Central with 11 points. Caden Porter followed with 8 points. Jake Cline fired in 6 points. Matthew Hatfield dropped in 5 points. Kendan Trent chipped in 2 points.

Sawyer Tomblin paced Lincoln County with 9 points in the loss.

The Miners will host River View on Tuesday.
