Miners Fall To Williamstown In Hatfield-McCoy Shootout

The top-ranked (AA) Williamstown Yellowjackets jumped all over the Mingo Central Miners early and never let off the gas in a 76-31 win on Friday in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout at the Williamson Field House.

Williamstown (16-0) got off to a strong start, taking a 20-7 lead after the first quarter. Things kept getting worse for the Miners (6-10) as the Yellowjackets extended the lead to 34-15 at the intermission. Williamstown kept extending its lead through the second half and cruised the rest of the way for the win.

Mingo Central was led by Jake Cline’s 8 points. Malaki Sheppard and Kendan Trent followed with 6 points each. Chris Ross netted 3 points. Ethan Thomason, Caden Porter and Tyler Lester finished with 2 points each.

Williamstown was led by Jayden Bryant with 15 points.

Mingo Central will face Belfry on Saturday at 7 pm in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout at the Williamson Field House.
