The Floyd Central Lady Jaguars got a nice District road win by defeating the Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats in Prestonsburg, 62-53.
Floyd Central (14-9) got off to a great start, snagging a 15-10 advantage after the first quarter. Prestonsburg (10-14) battle back to cut Floyd Central’s lead to 30-29 at the half. The Lady Jaguars outscored the Lady Blackcats, 11-9, in the third quarter to take a 41-38 lead heading into the final quarter. Floyd Central outscored Prestonsburg 21-15 over the last quarter.
The Lady Jaguars were led by Kennedy Harvel’s 22 points and 8 rebounds. Riley Compton followed with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Madilyn Meade had 15 points. Jada Johnson finished with 6 points and 9 rebounds. Chelsea Johnson chipped in 2 points.
Celina Mullins paced the Lady Blackcats with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Kylie Tackett followed with 9 points. Audrey Prater fired in 8 points. Ashley Tackett netted 5 points. Allison Howard added 2 points and 8 rebounds.
Floyd Central will next play on Tuesday at Shelby Valley in a 7:30 pm clash. Prestonsburg will host Paintsville at home on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
