The Pike County Central Hawks picked up a quality win on Friday as they defeated the Westside Renegades, 49-40, during the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout at the Williamson Field House.
The Hawks (15-7) jumped out to a 12-4 led before Westside (7-8) reeled them in to make it 12-9 after the first period. Pike County Central was able to stretch it out to 28-21 at the half. The Renegades hung tough throughout the second half but could never make a strong run at the Hawks, as Pike Central secured the win.
Pike County Central was led by Jaylan Rigdon with 18 points. Jaden Stewart followed with 17 points. Peyton Compton, Blake Adams and Peyton Owens added 4 points each. Camron Stafford finished with 2 points.
The Renegades were paced by Colton Lester’s 13 points. Dale Bledsoe followed with 8 points. Hunter Lester added 7 points. Parker Lambert dropped in 5 points. Kadien Vance and Ashton Reed netted 3 points each. Bryson Blankenship chipped in 1 point.
Westside will battle top-ranked (AA) Williamstown on Saturday at noon in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout. Pike County Central will also play in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout on Saturday at 6 pm against Scott. Both games at the Williamson Field House.
