The top-ranked (Class AAA) Wayne Lady Pioneers notched a huge road win by defeating the 8th-ranked (Class AA) Chapmanville Lady Tigers, 44-26, on Wednesday in Chapmanville.
The Lady Pioneers (18-0) jumped out of the gate quickly, taking a 17-10 lead after the first quarter. Wayne then held a 23-16 lead at the intermission. The Lady Tigers (10-7) had a terrible third quarter as they couldn’t score against Wayne’s defense. The Lady Pioneers took a 34-16 lead into the fourth quarter where they held on to win.
Brooke Adkins led the Lady Pioneers with 18 points. Addie Adkins followed with 12 points. Laneigh Brooks fired in 7 points. Mikayla Stacy added 4 points. Kinley Runyon chipped in 2 points. Cheyenne Williams finished with 1 point.
Wayne will next play at Ripley on Saturday at 1 pm. Chapmanville will host Logan on Friday at 7 pm.
