Panthers Crash Van, 85-44

The 3rd-ranked (Class A) Tug Valley Panthers jumped out of the gate early and never let up as they rolled past the Van Bulldogs on Tuesday at Van High School.

The Panthers (11-3) came out hot, outscoring the Bulldogs (1-12), 23-9, in the opening period. Tug Valley extended its lead to 40-20 at the intermission. The Panthers were able to cruise from there for the easy win.

Carson Newsome paced Tug Valley with 16 points. Brady Brewer and Joey Gollihue followed with 11 points each. Aiden Armstrong fired in 10 points. Ashton Davis, Parker Davis and Kaden Hale scored 8 points each. Braydun Ferris added 7 points. Paul Preece dropped in 4 points. Bryson Elia chipped in 2 points.

Kevin McCarty led Van with 25 points. Shaun Booth added 14 points in the loss.

Tug Valley next play Belfry on Friday at Williamson Field House as part of the Hatfield – McCoy Shootout. The opening tip is set for 9:30 pm.
