The Mingo Central Miners used a balanced attack and held on late to defeat the Westside Renegades, 55-52, on Tuesday on Miner Mountain.
Mingo Central (6-7) and Westside (7-6) battled back and forth through a low-scoring first period with the Miners holding a small 8-6 edge. The scoring ramped up in the second quarter as Mingo Central outscoring the Renegades 22-17 to carry a 30-23 advantage into the half. The two squads each scored 12 points in the third quarter, but Westside outscored Mingo Central 17-13 in the last quarter to take the game to the wire. Still, the Miners picked up an important win.

The Miners were paced by Ethan Thomason with 15 points. Matt Hatfield fired in 13 points. Jake Cline dropped in 9 points. Caden Porter followed with 8 points. Malaki Sheppard and Chris Ross netted 4 points each. Kendan Trent chipped in 2 points.
Westside was paced by Dale Bledsoe’s 26 points. Kyler Kenneda followed with 9 points. Parker Lambert added 8 points. Hunter Lester dropped in 5 points. Bryson Blankenship and Colton Lester chipped in 2 points apiece.
Mingo Central next travels to Wyoming East on Friday for a 7:30 pm clash. The Renegades will play at home on Friday at 7:30 pm against Pikeview.
