The 2nd-ranked (AA) Mingo Central Lady Miners used a dominant fourth quarter to defeat the 8th-ranked (AA) Chapmanville Lady Tigers, 50-29, on Tuesday at Mingo Central High School.
The Lady Miners (11-1) and Lady Tigers (8-5) started out evenly. The score was tied 12-12 after the first period of play before Mingo Central took a slim 18-16 lead into the locker room at the intermission. The Lady Miners increased the margin to 31-26 after three quarters, but Mingo Central outscored the Lady Tigers 19-3 over the final period of play to secure the win.
Mingo Central was led by Addie Smith’s 12 points. Madisyn Curry followed with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Jenna Sparks added 10 points and 8 boards. Bella Hall fired in 8 points. Alyssa Davis dropped in 3 points. Megan Adkins, DaLaney Grimmett and Gianna Akers each dropped in 2 points.
For Chapmanville, Daizi Farley led the way with 9 points. Alaira Evan added 8 points. Jaiden Mahon scored 5 points. Brooke Christian dropped in 4 points. Makayla Parsons chipped in 2 points. Chloe Thompson finished with 1 point.
Mingo Central will next play at home against Summers County on Saturday. Chapmanville will host Belfry in the Country Roads Showcase on Monday.
