For the second time this season, the Prestonsburg Lady Cats squared off against the Pike Central Lady Hawks. Earlier in the season, Prestonsburg traveled to Buckley’s Creek and came away with the loss 63-59 in a thriller. On Tuesday, they would have the rematch in the Fieldhouse and this time Prestonsburg would come out on top 66-55. ‘
The Lady Blackcats were led by their sensational senior, Celina Mullins. Mullins recorded a triple double, 10 points – 12 assists – 10 rebounds to lead her team to victory. The Blackcats were lead in scoring by guard Audrey Prater with 14 points. A pair of Lady Blackcats, Haley Lafferty and Allison Howard chipped in 9 points each. Kylie Tackett and Ashley Tackett each tossed in 8 and Jade Fitzpatrick and Amelia Newsome each scored 4 points.
Pike Central placed three ladies in double figures. They were led by Emalie Tackett who scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds on the night. She was followed closely by guard Hannah May who added 15 points. Finally, Abby May added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Other Lady Hawks who scored were Abigail Hess 7, Larah Stanley 3 and Kennedy Hamilton added 2 points.
The win bring Prestonsburg’s record to 7-10 on the season. Next up for the Lady Cats, they will host Lee County on Thursday. The loss drops Pike Central to 7-8 on the season. The Lady Hawks will travel to Paintsville on Thursday to take on the Paintsville Lady Tigers.
