Lady Miners Hammer Westside, 57-12

The Mingo Central Lady Miners used an incredible defensive effort to blow past the Westside Lady Renegades, 57-12, on Saturday.

The Lady Miners (10-1) jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the opening frame and an 18-7 lead at the intermission, but things would get much worse for Westside (6-8). Mingo Central outscored the Lady Renegades, 18-3, in the third period and then cruised to the rest of the way.

Addie Smith led Mingo Central with 19 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Jenna Sparks followed with 10 points and 3 blocks. Madisyn Curry scored 7 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Bella Hall added 6 points. Alyssa Davis, Megan Adkins and Gianna Akers added 4 points each. DaLaney Grimmett chipped in 3 points.

Mingo Central is currently ranked second but will likely ranked first in AA when the new poll is released next week. The Lady Miners will next host Chapmanville on Tuesday at 6 pm.

Westside is scheduled to play at Liberty-Raleigh on Tuesday at 6 pm.
