The Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs continued its strong season by defeating the Boyd County Lady Lions on Saturday in the 2A Sectional Championship.
The Lady Bulldogs (12-3) won their sixth straight game and continued to cement themselves as one of the best teams in the 15th Region. Boyd County (11-3) suffered its first loss to an in-state opponent since falling to Dixie Heights in early December.
Kensley Feltner led Lawrence County with 33 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Sophie Adkins followed with 14 points and 10 boards. Abby Nelson recorded 7 points and 4 rebounds. Leandra Curnutte scored 4 points and snagged 4 rebounds. Kaison Ward chipped in 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
For Boyd County, Taylor Bartrum paced the attack with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Jasmine Jordan fired in 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Isabella Opell had 8 points. Emilee Neese dropped in 6 points. Sophia Stevens and McKenzie Moore chipped in 2 points each. Myla Hamilton finished with 1 point.
Lawrence County next plays on Friday against Rowan County in the Kentucky 2A Championship tournament. The opening tip is set for 7:30 pm at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
Boyd County travels to Morgan County on Friday for a 7:30 pm clash.
