The Phelps Lady Hornets are in the middle of a great season after a 9-2 start.

Phelps only has two seniors and no juniors on this year’s team and is led by a strong group of talented young players.

Freshman Caleigh McCoy leads the Lady Hornets in scoring with 15.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore Kylea Weddington is not far behind with 14.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Senior Amelia Casey adds some strong play in the paint with 6.9 and 8.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore Faith Potter adds solid contributions with 6.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Skylar Rife gives Phelps some strong play down low with 4.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

The Lady Hornets are currently third in RPI in the 15th Region, trailing only Martin County and Paintsville. Phelps will have a chance at a signature win tomorrow in the 15th Region All A Classic tournament in a clash with Martin County.

The opening tip is set for 6 pm at Appalachia Wireless Arena.
