The Pike County Central Hawks picked up huge road win over the Floyd Central Jaguars, 56-53, on Wednesday night at Floyd Central in the 2A Sectional.
In a back and forth game, the Hawks (9-4) and Jaguars (8-5) found themselves tied at 24-24 at the half. Floyd Central took the lead in the third period and held a 38-32 advantage heading into the final frame. However, Pike County Central outscored the Jaguars 24-15 in the last quarter to pull out the win.
For Pike County Central, Jaylan Rigdon led the way with 25 points. Jaden Stewart followed with 19 points. Blake Adams added 10 points. Peyton Compton finished with 2 points in the win.
Floyd Central was paced by Braden Moore’s 13 points. Ronnie Sammons followed with 12 points. Dawson Moore fired in 11 points. Eric Burke dropped in 10 points. Chris Spriggs scored 4 points. Dylan Boyd chipped in 3 points in the loss.
Pike County Central is scheduled to play next on Saturday in the championship game of the 2A sectional tournament against the winner of Lawrence County and Magoffin County.
Floyd Central is set to face Rowan County on the road at 7:30 pm on Friday.
