Martin County 7th-Grader Parker Maynard won the 132 point weight class on Wednesday at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville.
Maynard, who is 14-years-old, pinned 4 seniors on his way to the title and was recognized as the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler. Maynard also defeated the 13th-ranked wrestler in the state in the championship match.
Currently, Maynard is 22-0 in middle school competition and 19-1 against high school competition. His lone loss came against fellow Martin County teammate Brock Messer.
