The Spring Valley Timberwolves got 25 points from Clay Robertson as they defeated the visiting Tug Valley Panthers, 86-75, on Thursday at Spring Valley High School.
The Panthers (2-2) held a 21-20 lead after the first period, but the Timberwolves (4-1) took a slim 40-38 lead into the locker at the half. Spring Valley slowly extended its lead throughout the second half and was able to secure the game down the stretch.
Following Robertson for Spring Valley was Ty Smith with 17 points. Tate Adkins dropped in 14 points. Colton Caldwell fired in 12 points. Kenyan Grayson added 10 points. Lucas Hazlett had 6 points. Luke Larsen finished with 2 points.
Tug Valley was paced by Joey Gollihue and Ashton Davis with 17 points apiece. Buddy Marcum finished with 14 points. Kaden Hale added 11 points. Parker Davis dropped in 7 points. Braydun Ferris and Bryson Elia recorded 3 points each. Johnathan Wagner chipped in 2 points. Paul Preece scored a point in the win.
Spring Valley will next play on Wednesday at Portsmouth. The opening tip is set for 7:30 pm.
Tug Valley will next face Gilmer County at home on Thursday in an 8 pm tipoff.
