The Martin County Lady Cardinals picked up a big win on Thursday by defeating the Floyd Central Lady Jaguars, 60-56,
The game was tight throughout. Floyd Central (8-3) held a 33-29 lead at the half. Martin County (8-1) only trailed by one point, 47-46, after three periods before pulling out the win late.
Laken Williams led the way for Martin County with 23 points. Katie Marcum followed with 19 points. Alyssa Allen recorded 11 points. Brooke Marcum dropped in 5 points. Candice Spaulding chipped in 2 points.
For Floyd Central, Madi Meade had 18 points. Kennedy Harvel and Jada Johnson added 9 points each. Riley Compton netted 8 points. Chelsea Johnson fired in 7 points. Allie Adkins finished with 5 points.
Martin County will next play in the Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic on Tuesday.
Floyd Central plays Tates Creek on Tuesday at 5:15 pm in the Berea Holiday Classic.
