The 5th-ranked (AAA) Wayne Lady Pioneers pulled ahead late to edge past the 7th-ranked (AA) Chapmanville Lady Tigers, 64-61, on Tuesday night out Wayne.
The Lady Pioneers (5-0) were paced by Brooke Adkins’ 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Laneigh Brooks followed with 18 points and 3 steals. Addie Adkins fired in 18 points to go with 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Mikayla Stacy chipped in 5 points in the win.
Wayne is next in action on Thursday, December 29 when it travels to Lincoln for a 5 pm contest.
Chapmanville (4-2) will travel to Belfry on Friday. The opening tip is set for 5:15 pm.
