Floyd Central Wins First Game in TN

The Floyd Central Jaguars traveled to Gatlinburg, TN for the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic. The Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic has a long standing history for great basketball action.

On Tuesday, the Jags faced off against Chapman, South Carolina as they looked to rebound from their first loss of the season on Friday. The Jaguars came out victorious 78-63. The Jaguars offense was led by Junior Dawson Moore. Moore led the Jags with 17 points as he was 7-12 from the floor and 2-5 from 3 point land. Moore paced three Jaguars in double figures. Braden Moore chipped in with 14 points and 5 rebounds. The third Jag in double figures was Chris Spriggs. Spriggs added 10 points in the victory. Senior Eric Burke scored 7 points and 6 rebounds while Ronnie Sammons added 6.

The bench played huge dividends for the Jags. Dylan Boyd continued his hot shooting as he scored 8 including going 2-4 from behind the arch. Logan Meade, continues to provide energy when entering the game also added 8 points. Brody Buck provided 6 points and led the Jags in rebounding with 7. Grant Wright rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

The Jags as a team shot 52% from the floor (34-66) and 43 % from 3 point land (9-21). The defensive pressure from the Jags was the key as they forced Chapman into 13 turnovers on the night.

The win moves Floyd Central to 6-1 on the season. On Wednesday, the Jaguars will take on Livingston Academy, TN.
