The Wayne Pioneers used a strong third quarter to defeat the visiting Tolsia Rebels, 63-55, on Saturday out Wayne.
The Rebels (2-3) held a 20-19 lead at the half, but Wayne (3-1) went on a 24-12 run throughout the third period to take a 43-32 lead into the final period. Tolsia cut into the lead but could never overcome Wayne’s advantage, and the Pioneers picked up a huge win on their county rival.
Isaac Meddings led the way for Wayne with 18 points. Zane Adkins had 14 points. Ronnie Staley dropped in 13 points. Cooper Adkins followed with 8 points. Braedon Eves chipped in 4 points. Dillon May, Isaiah Lowe and Peyton Marcum each finished with 2 points.
Tolsia was led by Parker Watts’ 17 points. Brayden Mollette followed with 13 points. Ben Clayton netted 11 points. Colton Austin fired in 6 points. Dakota Blackburn dropped in 4 points. Bryson Muncy and David Dingess each chipped in 2 points.
Wayne is next scheduled to play Buffalo at home in a 7 pm clash on Tuesday. Tolsia is set to travel to Naugatuck to face Tug Valley at 7:30 pm.
