The 6th-ranked (AA) Mingo Central Lady Miners defeated the 7th-Ranked (AA) Chapmanville Lady Tigers, 55-49, on Tuesday in Chapmanville.
The Lady Miners (5-0) jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first period. Chapmanville (3-1) cut the lead to five at 26-21 at the half, but the Lady Miners stretched it out to 43-34 after three periods. They held onto the win from there on out.
Addie Smith led Mingo Central with 26 points and 6 assists. DaLaney Grimmett followed with 17 points. Alyssa Davis had 8 points. Bella Hall chipped in 4 points.
Alaira Evans paced Chapmanville with 29 points. Daizi Farley had 9 points. Jaiden Mahon and Chloe Thompson fired in 4 points apiece. Haley Fleming dropped in 3 points.
Mingo Central will host Westside at home on Friday. The opening tip is set for 7:30 pm.
Chapmanville will play this weekend in the Rogers Oil Classic at Summers County.
