Chapmanville Gets Big Win Over Elkins To Start Season

Sal Dean fired in 19 points to lead the Chapmanville Tigers to a huge 52-40 win over the 4th-ranked in AAA Elkins Tigers on Saturday in Elkins.

Chapmanville (1-0), which came into the contest ranked 6th in AA, used its strong defense to establish an advantage in the first half and maintained a 24-16 lead at the half.

Chapmanville then used a 16-4 run in the third period to build a 17-point lead before Elkins went on a 12-0 run to pull within five points at 40-35, but the Tigers finished strong and made some free throws down the stretch to earn the win.

Dean hit all six of his free throw attempts in the win. Zion Blevins added 12 points in the win. Elkins was led by Cory Harper’s 18 points.

Chapmanville will play on Tuesday when it travels to Mingo Central for a 7:30 pm contest.
