The 5th-ranked Wayne Lady Pioneers got their off to a great start by defeating the visiting North Marion, 71-57, on Saturday.
North Marion (0-1) got off to a great start and outscored Wayne (1-0), 29-25, in the first half. The Lady Pioneers came alive in the second half, scoring 46 points to take the win.
Brooke Adkins led the way for Wayne with 22 points. Laneigh Brooks had 19 points. Addie Adkins added 13 points. Mikayla Stacy dropped in 9 points. Cheyenne Williams and Eve Brown netted 4 points apiece.
Wayne will next play on Friday by hosting Lincoln County. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 pm.
