The Scott Lady Hawks opened the season with a 51-34 win over Buffalo at home on Thursday.
After taking a 16-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, Scott (1-0) took a 23-17 lead into the locker room at the half. The Lady Hawks then put the game on ice in the third period by outscoring Buffalo (0-1), 13-4, and taking a 36-21 lead into the final quarter.
Kelsey Harper led Scott with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Haven Tomblin and Cheyenne Robinson each had 10 points. Christina Roberts had 6 points. Amelia Smith added 3 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Jenna Butcher chipped in 2 points and 6 rebounds while dishing out 8 assists.
Scott will play at Point Pleasant on Tuesday. The tip is scheduled for 7 pm.
