Former Pikeville High School football star Jackson Hensley announced that he was leaving the Wake Forest University football team on Monday.
Hensley announced his decision publicly via social media.
“I’d like to thank Coach Clawson and Coach Higgins for giving me the opportunity to play at Wake Forest,” Hensley said. “It has been an honor to be a part of this program and wear the black and gold. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”
Hensley helped to lead the Panthers to a state title in 2019. He had 49 catches for 809 yards and 12 touchdowns that season. At Wake Forest, Hensley was used sparingly and had 1 reception for 15 yards.
He is sure to garner the attention of other colleges looking for a wideout.
